Cycling is a great way to explore Melbourne. These rides are designed so that people of all levels of ability can enjoy them as they find out more about our city. The routes make use of Melbourne's extensive bike trail network, so are mainly off road and all start and end at railway stations. Most are between 10km and 30km in length. Variations and combinations of rides are given that allow riders to extend or shorten the rides as desired.

The rides have been categorised into four areas. Please select from the regions:

Northern Melbourne

Cycling in Melbourne's north is lots of fun. The region includes suburbs such as Broadmeadows, Brunswick, Coburg, Fitzroy, Greensborough, Heidelberg and Reservoir. And the cycle routes in the north are full of surprises as you discover parklands and creeks. Often the weather to the north of the city is sunny while to the south and east it is grey and rainy.

Southern Melbourne

As well as suburbs such as St Kilda, South Yarra, Malvern and Springvale, Melbourne's southern region includes the beach suburbs from South Melbourne to Frankston. This makes for some very enjoyable riding indeed.

Eastern Melbourne

There are many excellent bike paths in the leafy suburbs in the eastern part of Melbourne. Encompassing suburbs from Richmond to Mount Waverley, from Hawthorn to Lilydale and Ferntree Gully, from Oakleigh to Dandenong these trails offer a wonderful riding experience.

Western Melbourne

Historical interest, broad vistas, wetlands and beaches, the western part of Melbourne has it all. Riding in suburbs such as Port Melbourne, Footscray, Werribee, Maribyrnong, Sunshine, Essendon and St Albans.
