Werribee to Sunshine via Federation Trail

Ride on 15/11/2019

OYB Nov 15 2019 (2).jpg

Nineteen riders disembarked at Werribee yesterday to start the ride. We were joined by 2 guests Lyn and Brett. Please see the pics (thanks John and Audrey) attached to an earlier email for a who's who. Conditions were as forecast although a bit cooler than expected.

The Werribee River path was delightful. We later rode past Suzanne Cory High School just before stopping for a very ventilated morning coffee & c. at the OYB Pop-up Cafe de Wheels. The spread was very impressive and much enjoyed by all with sushi rolls , a lot of home baking, delicious homemade dolmades,
etc etc.

Four people left early to take the train from Hoppers Crossing while the rest pressed on along the Federation Trail where a lot of work is going on but our riding was unimpeded.

A few riders chose to leave the group at various places but it seems everyone eventually ended up at Sunshine station and trained it back to the
city.

Final distance was around 33km all up.

Thanks to everyone for coming.

Jeff's Shed to Sandringham via the Bay

Ride on 2/11/2019

IMG_0388.jpg

We had 12 riders on Friday for our pedal down the Bay.

Jeff's Shed was free of protests but not of protestors. A small group was being interviewed by the media in the aftermath of the previous day's protests.

The forecast northerly blew us all the way to Sandringham and made for an easy ride along the beach path under blue skies. It was warm but everyone seemed to handle the conditions well. Good to see the good weather is back, this weekend notwithstanding. The Bay was in character with the strong winds and white horses.

At Sandy some enjoyed brunch at the pub while others chose coffee etc at a nearby cafe.

Everyone trained it back to the City except Marie who rode back into a very stiff headwind. Well done Marie!

Ross.
