Edithvale to Mordialloc via Braeside Park

Ride on 13 March 2020

We had 13 riders today, started out at 10.41am and travelled east along Edithvale Rd to the Edithvale Bird-hide.  No birds today, so we continue along the bike path along the wetlands for several hundred metres.  We then travelled through the suburbs of Aspendale Gardens and Waterways, only taking about 1/2 hour to reach Braeside Park.  With all the rain this last month, the park looked fantastic with lots of ducks in the wetlands and very healthy looking heathland.

We enjoyed a stop at the Picnic Ground before we continued our ride down the Cypress Avenue, past the wooden carvings of Australian animals.  Back through Waterways and then back along a canal & Mordialloc Creek, before we arrived at the cafe at Mordialloc. The trip was about 20 kms.

Though the weather stayed in the 20s, the wind was against us most of the way which I really noticed when some of us decided to cycle from Mordialloc to Sandringham.  Even though it was only an extra 10 kms - I felt like it was an extra 20 kms! We luckily missed the rain and I want to thank you all for sharing this lovely ride with me.
