Regional Victoria is a wonderful place to explore by bike. Many rides are on rail trails that make particularly good cycle routes as gradients are limited. If you live in Melbourne or a country town cycling is an excellent way to escape from the urban environment into the countryside.

This is a selection of the cycling trails out there. They are mainly off road and are suitable for riders of all abilities who regularly get on their bikes.

With a wide variety of countryside, coast and towns to explore the south west is a must see destination for cyclists. It ranges from Hamilton to Portland and Warrnambool, from Ararat and Ballarat to Bacchus Marsh and Daylesford and from Colac to Geelong and Torquay.

North Eastern Victoria

With great scenery and excellent rail trails, some of the best cycling trails in Victoria is to be had in North East Victoria. The region includes towns such as  Benalla, Bright, Kyabram, Mansfield, Shepparton, Wangaratta, Wodonga, Yea and Yarrawonga.

The scenery to the north and west of Victoria is greatly varied from wooded hills in near Melbourne to dry flat areas up around the Murray. Cycling is especially popular in the large towns of Ballarat and Bendigo.
