Ride on 24 May 2019
Eleven of the faithful, Kris B., David D., Paul, Lynda, Di, Deborah, Jonno, Kevin, Bob, Ross and I met at Ruthven Station under grey skies. Kris looked at the rest of us and said, "What are we doing?" Well . . . of course, Ross had a quick word to the weather gods and, after a smattering of very light rain at the start of the ride, the weather cleared and we even had sunshine by the end.
Our new route from Ruthven station worked out very well and we soon reached Edwardes Lake ready to circumnavigate this body of water. The water fowl were out in force to greet us as rode around the lake and into the Edgars Creek Wetlands. A short run across Broadhurst Ave took us to the Merri Creek. Just after the drive-in theatre we came across a detour, so we rode along quiet streets parallel to the creek to Baker Street. Here local, Lynda, took over the leadership and together with Paul, delivered us to Al Alamy for excellent coffee, middle eastern delights and conversation.
Our final leg took us down the Upfield Trail to Royal Park. Di pointed out an apartment block where there is no parking and a massive waiting list to get accommodation.
Thanks to Ross and Bob for making sure that no-one got lost at the back.
