Glen Waverley to East Malvern via Scotchmans Creek

Ride on July 19 2019

On a mild, sunny winter’s day 20 riders set off from Glen Waverley station. Ross steered us clear of footpaths and through the TAFE parking area to the start of the Scotchmans Creek trail and a long glide – well, it was mostly glide – to coffee at Phoenix Park. The trail was in tip-top tourist condition: the bush was fragrant, the wayside grasses thick and lustrously green, and the wattles coming into blossom reassured us that spring is not far away. The sole worker on duty at the café did a magnificent job feeding and coffeeing the horde, which, refreshed, rode on to East Malvern station. There the group split, half opting for the train to the city, half continuing along the Gardiners Creek trail to a multitude of destinations. Thanks to Paul for sweeping.
